Dorothy Verani

Exeter Chapter leader

As a Realtor, my goal is to provide a 5-star experience to each and every client. I achieve this by being responsive, passionate, and truly going above and beyond. My tagline is, "There is no place like home." (How could I resist?) And with over 25 years of proven experience in corporate marketing, sales, negotiation, and strategic thinking, I am a true advocate for my clients. I am committed to making sure, whether buying or selling, that everyone feels they are receiving superior personalized service and honest communication throughout the entire process and even after. I love receiving text messages from homebuyers excited to share their home improvements from newly painted rooms to a new kitchen island or the addition of a swing set to the yard. And there is nothing like having a job where you can witness a first-time homebuyer carry his wife over the threshold or see tears of joy on a seller's face when they have received "the offer" and can move on to their new dream home. Real estate is so much more than a transaction, and that is why I love it! Growing up in Westport, a coastal town in Connecticut, I learned at a young age how wonderful it is to reside in an area close to the water. After attending The Carroll School of Management at Boston College with a major in Marketing, I spent time working and living in the Boston area until I moved to New Hampshire to start a family. I currently live on the Seacoast of NH in Stratham with my husband, Dave, who has a background in real estate development and investment, and our two teen daughters and dog, "Hallie". When I am not busy helping clients, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, decorating, skiing, and of course, the beach. Having worked alongside so many incredibly talented and inspiring women over the course of my life, I learned the power of exchanging ideas and information, and that by doing so, it makes us all better! Most importantly, I made friendships and connections that I still have today. This is why I am thrilled to be a part of the Exeter Chapter of the Women’s Business League!

Cindy Khoury

Exeter Chapter Leader

The opportunity to be part of the Exeter WBL is very meaningful to me. It represents the fact that this truly is my home and community! My family and I moved to the NH Seacoast 7 years ago from the DC area, and we couldn’t be happier to finally settle down. Our lifestyle was wonderfully adventurous but extremely mobile. I either joke, cry or look like a deer in headlights when the story comes up of my 4 children born in 4 different states over a span of 2 decades. Extremely exciting is my recently launched social media marketing business See Beauty in Everyone. It has been an amazing, creative outlet for me as a nano-influencer and so much fun to curate authentic, relatable testimonial advertising for businesses. From blogging to posting, it is amazing to contribute to the world of influence marketing. Through it all, I’ve had a partner in my husband, Gary, an Army combat veteran and now tech VP. Our small business ownership of martial arts academies in the Merrimack Valley was the beginning of my entrepreneurial passion. I served in the United States Air Force and maintain careers in dental hygiene, fitness, and real estate. You can imagine the amazing, outstanding women I’ve met along the way. To absorb, marvel, influence and be influenced by such incredible people from different walks of life has been a priceless gift. It is a triumph to see businesses flourish and people connect. And we will get there again. In this time of pandemic recovery, more than ever, I feel that we need to surround ourselves with like-minded women. Women who can lift us up. Who we can lean on, learn from, and trust. Women who will make us look back on these unprecedented times and say, "You were there for me, and we made it through together." This is what I hope you will find in our Exeter Women’s Business League Chapter. I really look forward to meeting you!

Darlene Woodward

Georgetown chapter Leader

I'm Darlene. Dog photographer, canine expert, and people person. This photography business all started with my rescue dog, Kota. Her challenges as a rescue with a difficult start in life inspired me to learn as much as possible about animals. So I became a dog trainer to positively reinforce our bond, after several other dog trainers were convinced she was a hopeless case and could only be trained through harsh punishment methods. Patience and perseverance are interpersonal strengths I developed in two of my former careers as a middle school teacher and flight attendant, and I put these traits straight to work with Kota and my dog training. While there are quite a few obvious differences between children/people and dogs, I learned through it all that some “well timed” treats, such as cookies, can surely make the difference. And if it takes a “coyote caller” to get that perfect head tilt, I’ll be right there to capture that perfect moment with one in hand! My goals with photography aren’t that different from my goals in dog training. My mission is to encourage and reinforce joy, and to celebrate the human-animal connection. I live in Georgetown with my husband and husky-mix, Kota, and I'm excited to be a chapter co-leader with Maggie Van Galen. WBL is an amazing group of inspiring women supporting women, and I'm honored to be a part of it!"

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Marketing/ Communication from Arizona State University, which provided me the opportunity to work for Warner Brother Television. I worked in both television and radio sales, bringing in new advertisers, writing creative copy, and being in commercials! But…I missed the beach! After moving back to Boston to get married and start a family, I needed a new career that was conducive to motherhood. I grew up with parents owning their own brokerage, Steve and Judy Horne, so real estate is in my blood, and I have grown to love it. My husband Jeff and I reside in Georgetown (hopefully up to the beach area soon!) with our two daughters and three pets. I am looking forward to networking and ELEVATING ourselves inside and out. Paula Baxley

Portsmouth Chapter Leader

I decided to launch the Portsmouth chapter of WBL because of the unexpected beneficial impact of the women I've met, become friends with, and worked with over the last 3 years. I am on a mission to recreate that for every woman who is interested. I help women start saving, a do-over, grow or preserve everything they've worked for so that they can be their best selves for the families and communities that they love. I believe that if you know you are on track to achieve your financial goals, then you can take the day off - whether to clean up the beach, help the homeless, assist veterans, work a food-pantry. Basically, to manage the balance between self-care (what IS THAT?!?) and family. I came to Merrill to empower myself and then found a great deal of satisfaction encouraging and strategizing with other women by being open, loyal, and showing up. I prefer working with other involved, heart-centered, proactive, engaged, giving women and businesses.

Linda Porter

Portsmouth Chapter VP

I think I was destined to be a Realtor! As the wife of a military veteran, I have experienced a minimum of 16 household moves locally, nationally and overseas. Relocating as often as I have, has given me a truly complete and compassionate understanding of my client’s buying or selling experience, and the stresses that can come with it. Additionally, I am a former Banking Professional with over 25 years experience in Consumer and Small Business Banking, Product and Project Management, contributing to the thoroughness and attention to detail that my clients experience with every transaction. These experiences have contributed to the fully rounded Real Estate Professional that I am today. I have strong, negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills, and will help you navigate the opportunities that await! I am active in the community, recently serving as the Volunteer Coordinator for TEDx Portsmouth 2019. I value the importance of family and juggling a busy schedule, earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Granite State College, at night, while working full time and running a busy household as a mother of two. I connect with women, and naturally promote others, not because I have to because I want to help them grow their business, helping each other is good business! As VP of the Portsmouth Chapter of Women’s Business League, and working with Paula Baxley, I see this as the venue to build a network of women that promote each other and grow because of it. At the end of the day, I want us all to succeed and thrive and I see WBL as a means to make that happen!
