Tell us about YOU!! (Who are you & What do you do?)My name is Leah Goldman and I am the owner/operator of Fika and Friends, an 8-16 week program that offers life coaching with a focus on personal growth and development while partnering with horses for enhanced learning for kids and adults. Working with horses offers a unique experience that helps clients have a deeper understanding of themselves resulting in a more well balanced, healthy, joyful, and fulfilling life. Always a lover of animals, I began riding and caring for horses at age six and have continued that throughout my whole life. At age 27 I brought home my first dog Boots, who became the inspiration behind Fika and Friends. My background is in Clinical Mental Health and School Guidance Counseling where I primarily worked with middle and high school students. I transitioned into coaching because I love helping people who are in an action phase of their life; who are ready and motivated to make positive changes for themselves.
What makes you different/stand out in your industry? Most people know about or have heard of Equine Therapy, but not Equine Coaching. I noticed there wasn’t an opportunity for people who were functioning at a higher level to experience the benefits of working with horses. I wanted to open up that experience to both kids and adults.
What do your clients love about you? This is a hard question to answer about myself so I will quote a testimonial from one of my former students who is all grown up now: “Leah was my teacher and counselor in high school. She has a wonderful ability to listen and be supportive. Empathetic and kind, Leah really cares about everyone she works with. Her sense of humor makes her a great friend, and her listening skills makes those feel heard and supported. Being compassionate is such an important quality of anyone working in the mental health field and Leah embodies all the best parts of compassion and someone who truly cares.”
What is the best advice you can share with others? The best advice I can share with others is that opportunities are endless if you know how to look for them.
How has the Women’s Business League helped you? I have just joined but am in awe of how helpful and supportive WBL is. I can’t wait to see how my business will grow from being a part of this community.
